Prior to financial planning Richard travelled extensively as a
Yacht delivery skipper, and raced Yachts Professionally in
America, Canada, The west Indies, The Bahamas, The UK, Norway,
Sweden, Denmark, Sardinia, France, Spain and Majorca.
Richard sailed the Atlantic as a 20 yr old while delivering a
1989 Canadian Admirals cup Yacht to the USA.
Richard was a keen Triathlete (Swim, Bike and Run) in the sports
formative yrs. Richard was part of a 4 man team that took part
in the 1984 London to Paris Triathlon whereby they ran from
London to Dover, Swam the Channel and then Cycled to Paris. It
was a team event however they were the only entrants from 9 teams
that undertook the swim without wet suits.
Richard completed the Nice Triathlon, (Swim 2k, Cycle 80K and
run 20k)
Richards ½ marathon’s PB is 76 minutes (Taunton )
Richard also completed the Long Distance Walkers Association’s
Dartmoor 100 (he ran) in 1985. This required 100 miles non stop
in under 48 hrs across Dartmoor. Richard completed the event in
30 hrs.
Richard is still a keen Swimmer but the distances are a little
less these days !!
In 2003 after the Semi Final of the Rugby World Cup in
Australia, Richard decided to “Go to “the final. He managed to
get 4 tickets and 4 flights and went to Sydney for 72 hrs. Work
that one out!
Richard recently completed the "Grizzly" a 20 mile off road run
in south Devon on Sunday 9th March 2008.
He had very short notice due to someone not being able to
compete, it was totally mad, very irresponsible and painful but
as he often say’s, life’s to short not to do these kind of
things. |
